SUKUR AWAITING LIVERPOOL CALL
HAKAN SUKUR is eagerly awaiting a call from Liverpool, according to his agent Hakan Azman who admits that the club have not yet got in contact.
Sukur has been linked to Liverpool several times over the past two months, but the decision to sell Robbie Fowler to Leeds United now means the search for a new striker has started in earnest.
David Trezeguet, Dwight Yorke, Djibril Cisse, Nuno Gomes and Freddie Kanoute have all been suggested as possible Reds purchases - but a rush signing is unlikely.
"I think if Liverpool were interested in Hakan then they would have called me," Azman told planetfootball.
"We would love Liverpool to get in touch with us. I have called the club but I am still waiting for anyone to get back to me."
In the meantime the unsettled Internazionale striker has been linked with a move to Benfica in the Portuguese press - something that his agent is quick to rubbish.
"This is simply not true," adds Azman. "If Sukur is to leave Italy then it will be to one of two destinations - Spain or England."
The Turkish international has been seeking a route out of Inter since it became clear that he was not in the plans of new coach Hector Cuper.
With the likes of Mohammed Kallon and Nicola Ventola playing, and Ronaldo, Chrisitan Vieri and Alvaro Recoba all awaiting returns from injury and suspension, it appears that Sukur's chances at the club will be highly limited.
