FOWLER CONFIDENT OF TITLE WIN
Fowler has passed his medical at Elland Road is due to be unveiled as a Leeds player at a Friday press conference, and launched a parting shot at Gerard Houllier's side by claiming that he now has a better chance of claiming a championship medal with David O'Leary's team.
Liverpool are currently top of the Premier League ahead of Leeds but Fowler insists that his new side have a better chance of lifting the trophy in May.
"One thing I'll predict is that I can win the league this season," said Fowler.
"Liverpool had a great year last season and are still well placed.
"But at Leeds there's a great team and we feel we can go all the way. This side really suits the way I play."
Fowler's £11 million arrival in West Yorkshire takes O'Leary's spending to around £97 million and the spending may not even stop there.
Stephen Schechter, the financial guru behind the club's recent financial restructuring, was adamant that the spending would not stop.
"I'd be insulted if Leeds chairman Peter Ridsdale didn't come back and ask for more money," said Schechter.
Schechter was able to use a system called 'securitisation' to raise the money against Leeds' future ticket sales in a loan which is paid back over the course of 25 years.
