BASSETT - I DON'T HAVE FAVOURITES

DAVE BASSETT has slammed Leicester shareholders who suggested that his past relationship with Dennis Wise has led to the veteran midfielder keeping his place in The Foxes side, despite a run of poor form.

Wise, who was signed in the summer from Chelsea by previous manager Peter Taylor, has not been at his best at Filbert Street, but Bassett angrily refuted suggestions that he is being preferred to Matthew Jones and Stefan Oakes because the two worked together at Wimbledon in the mid-1980s.

"I had Dennis for one season at Wimbledon and he was dropped then," Bassett said.

"I pick a team that I think is going to win matches.

"I don't have any favourites - never have, never will.

"I don't know anything about shares, so the shareholders should stick to that and leave the football to me."
