KELL RULED OUT FOR THE SEASON

SCUNTHORPE UNITED midfielder Richard Kell has been ruled out of action for the rest of the season after breaking his leg in Saturday's derby clash with Hull City.

Kell was stretchered off after a late challenge by Hull's Mike Edwards, who received a straight red card, and the injury dampened a fine 2-1 win for The Iron.

"The result has been overshadowed by the injury to Richard," Scunthorpe's assistant boss Russ Wilcox said.

"I thought it was a late challenge and we are all very shocked because Richard has been excellent for us this season.

"After the incident, we were unsettled, Hull came back into the game despite being down to ten men.

"But at this time, our thoughts are with Richard."

Tigers boss Brian Little refused to comment on the incident, but felt Edwards' red card 'dampened the game a little bit.'
