SOUNESS CONFIRMS COLE INTEREST
Rovers have made no secret of the fact that they are looking for a new striker, having been interested in Robbie Fowler and Savo Milosevic, and would love a goalscorer with Cole's record.
The former Newcastle star has seen his chances limited this season and does not appear to be in Sir Alex Ferguson's mind as his first choice striker.
The 30-year-old has said that he will stay and fight for his place at Old Trafford but with the World Cup fast approaching, he knows he needs to play regularly to have a chance of making the squad.
He said: "I don't know anything about it and I don't know where that suggestion came from. I want to stay."
Blackburn have struggled with goals this season and Souness says that he would move for Cole saying: "If he became available then I would be interested."
However, Blackburn say they missed out on Fowler because he would be too expensive and Cole would prove to be almost as expensive to bring to Ewood Park.
