Tigana looking to France
Following the collapse of his move for Valencia hit-man John Carew, it is expected Tigana will step up his search for a new striker to help fire The Cottagers into Europe next term.
Dwight Yorke and Sergei Rebrov continue to be linked with a switch to West London, and a Maniero move has also been mooted, but sources in France claim the capital club have run the rule over a forward who has already failed to significantly impress in England, during a stint with Nottingham Forest (where he netted twice in 16 games), in Jean-Claude Darcheville.
The 26-year-old has rebuilt his reputation with Lorient in Le Championnat, despite the club currently lying bottom of the table.
Eleven goals in 19 games have reaffirmed the Frenchman's ability to snap up chances, and it is understood that Tigana has had the player watched.
Whether Darcheville would be the immediate solution to Fulham's striking problems is another matter, and the Londoners may look instead for a bigger name to compete for places with the likes of Steve Marlet, Barry Hayles and Louis Saha.
Meanwhile, another player believed to be on Tigana's list of possible recruits is Paris Saint Germain's Selim Benachour.
The Tunisian international has been on loan with Martigues this season, in the French Second Division, but is considering his future as he prepares for the African Cup of Nations.
The 20-year-old attacking midfielder is expected to be closely scrutinised by Fulham during the tournament in Mali, and some impressive performances could lead to a firm bid from Tigana.
PSG will probably want to retain the services of the Paris-born ace, as they only loaned him out in order to gain some valuable experience, but the Premiership side have already proved in the past that money talks when it comes to tempting clubs to sell their assets.
