OKOCHA SCOOPS NIGERIA GONG
PARIS SAINT GERMAIN midfielder Augustine 'Jay Jay' Okocha has been named as the Nigerian Player of the Year.
The 28-year-old beat Ipswich's Finidi George to the award voted for by the sports writers of Nigeria.
"I'm most honoured by this award and I hope to continue to give my best," said Okocha at the awards ceremony.
Okocha follows striker Victor Agali who won the award last year for his scoring displays for Bundesliga side Schalke.
The former Fenerbache man has starred for the Super Eagles in their far-from-smooth qualification for the World Cup finals, and has also done well to win his place back in the starting side at the Parc des Princes.
