Lizararzu blow for Bayern
The 32-year-old has jetted to Bordeaux for tests to determine the extent of the damage sustained in Bayern's training camp in Marbella.
"It is never easy to make predictions with achilles injuries," assistant coach Michael Henke informed the club's official website.
Better news for the European Champions is the return to fitness of midfield dynamo Jens Jeremies after six months on the sidelines.
The German international, who feared his career was over after a persistent knee injury continued to flare up, is hopeful of making his return to action against Wolfsburg on January 23.
"I feel no pain in the knee and I have reached a good level of fitness," said Jeremies.
"I have effectively been on holiday for six months and that is more than enough. I now have a clear objective - to start the game against Wolfsburg."
