Owls swoop for Heald

SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY have completed the loan signing of Wimbledon custodian Paul Heald and the 33-year-old is eligible to play in Tuesday's Worthington Cup semi-final with Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park.

Heald, who started his career at rivals Sheffield United, has made just four first-team appearances this season, with The Dons preferring Kelvin Davis between the sticks, and has not participated in any of the cup competitions.

Kevin Pressman, the Owls number one keeper, is suffering from injury as is 20-year-old Chris Stringer and coach Terry Yorath has turned to Heald as he bids to overturn Rovers and reach the Millennium Stadium showpiece.
