Alaves kick out Kanu

ALAVES have decided to terminate the contract of loan star Christopher Kanu, with the Nigerian now set to return to Ajax.

The defender had been missing for over a week, but he finally got in touch with Alaves on Wednesday - claiming he had been suffering from malaria.

This explanation angered Alaves, as they felt he stayed in his native country because he failed to make Nigeria`s African Cup of Nations squad.

Alaves said he would be severely disciplined, and, following a meeting on Friday, they decided to terminate his contract.

A brief statement issued by the Spanish side read: "In accordance with our internal disciplinary policy, it has been decided that the player`s contract will be terminated and he will return to Ajax."

Kanu, brother of Arsenal ace Nwankwo, had made just five appearances for Alaves after being loaned until the end of the season by Ajax.
