Viola crisis alerts clubs

CRISIS-CLUB Fiorentina risk a player revolt with numerous vultures lurking in the background to take advantage of La Viola's unsettled situation.

As wages have not been paid for some time, Nuno Gomes and Marco Rossi have demanded that their contracts are rescinded, and others look set to follow suit.

"There is a possibility that each player could act to preserve his own interests," confirmed defender Moreno Torricelli (pictured).

Rangers and Derby County are just two of the clubs waiting in the wings, with Fabio Rossitto targeted. The midfielder received an offer from The Rams, although the situation will have been complicated by John Gregory's arrival at Pride Park, while Gers boss Alex McLeish is believed to have considered the player as a solution to his midfield problems.

"I do not know anything about the interest of Glasgow Rangers in my services," Rossitto stated.

"My agent has honestly not informed me of this. The door remains open, instead, that leads to Derby County.

"Between this week and next week, there can be developments in the negotiations."

Furthermore, Domenico Morfeo has attracted attention from West Ham, with his contract due to expire in the summer, in any case.

Fiorentina's assistant manager Luciano Chiarugi fears the forward will leave in order to showcase his talents elsewhere, particularly as La Viola are struggling to avoid relegation to Serie B.

"Fiorentina need to do everything they possibly can in order to keep a player like Morfeo at the club," said Chiarugi.

"I think and I hope that the club rate this situation as a priority.

"Putting aside all of the club's other problems at the minute, Morfeo is a player who they need to keep close to them."
