Trotters set to unveil new signing

BOLTON WANDERERS have called a press conference for later on Thursday afternoon where it is expected they will unveil French star Youri Djorkaeff as their new signing.

Trotters boss Sam Allardyce flew to Germany to hold talks with the unsettled Kaiserslautern star and his representatives and a loan deal until the end of the season is believed to have been agreed.

The 33-year-old has fallen out-of-favour at The Red Devils and has been looking for a move away from the Betzenberg for some time after a bust-up with coach Andreas Brehme.

Marseille had been linked with the former Internazionale ace and the player himself had claimed that both Arsenal and Liverpool were keen on signing him, which The Reds rubbished.

The skilful hit-man is determined to leave Kasierslautern for regular first team football as he hopes to win a place in France's World Cup squad and as a result of his lack of recent action he has been left out of the World Cup winners squad for the friendly with Romania next week.

Allardyce is keen to bolster his squad as he tries to help them avoid relegation back to the First Division and he will hope that Djorkaeff can provide the quality to fire them to safety.

It is the second time that Allardyce has raided Germany for a new player having brought in Borussia Dortmund front-man Fredi Bobic on loan for the rest of the season last month.

Bolton have confirmed that the player wanted more time to consider the move, but that they are to unveil a new signing on Thursday.
