Uruguay omit Recoba for Korea friendly

URUGUAYAN boss Victor Pua has left out Inter's Alvaro Recoba and Juventus's Paolo Montero from his 18-man squad for Wednesday's friendly against South Korea in Montevideo.

Malaga striker Debray Dario Silva was also left out of the squad, having fallen out with the coaching staff during the qualifiers.

Lecce's Javier Ernesto Chevanton and Guillermo Giacomazzi and Juventus midfielder Fabian O'Neill were also omitted from the squad, as Pua takes the opportunity to call in some of his less-experienced players.

One surprise inclusion was Cruz Azul striker Sebastian Abreu, who is top scorer in the Mexican league, with nine goals in six matches.

Uruguay play Denmark in their first match of the World Cup finals. They are in a group which includes World and European champions France and African Cup of Nations runners-up Senegal.
