Derby trial German Buck

EXCLUSIVE
DERBY COUNTY have handed a trial to experienced German midfielder Andreas Buck who recently had his contract at Kaiserslautern terminated, and is on the transfer list.

New Rams manager John Gregory is looking to bolster his squad in a quest to avoid the drop and has already snapped up Warren Barton and Robert Lee from Newcastle in his short tenure at Pride Park.

Gregory is expected to run the rule over Buck within the next few days, before deciding whether to make a firm contract offer to the 34-year-old.

"I have heard that he is having a trial with Derby," an FCK spokesman told planetfootball.com.

"But the player is not on our books any more so I do not have any details on how long the trial is."

Buck was a pivotal figure in Kaiserslautern's shock title win in the 1997/98 season but fell out of favour under coach Andreas Brehme and will hope to impress Gregory with little interest being shown in the Bundesliga.
