Izzet decision 'very soon'

LEICESTER CITY midfielder Muzzy Izzet revealed that he will make his decision about a move to Middlesbrough 'very soon'.

Boro had a £6 million bid accepted for the transfer-listed Turkish international at the beginning of this week and Izzet held lengthy negotiations with the Teesside club on Thursday.

Riverside supremo Steve McClaren is desperate to add the quality of Izzet to his uninspiring midfield, and he will find out in the near future if he has been successful.

"I heard about the Middlesbrough offer from my agent and I think it is time to change teams," said Izzet, who seems to be edging towards a move away from Filbert Street.

"I have to think about my international future as well as my Premiership future.

"Sometimes you have to change club because you want to move a step higher in your career.

"I think this is a good offer and I will answer very soon.

"I need a couple of days to decide what to do, I went up there and basically just listened to what they had to say.

"I'm undecided and I shall talk it over with Carly (his partner) and let them know in a couple of days.

"I haven't said yes and I haven't said no to them. I met Steve McClaren and he's a nice bloke and I was impressed with their training facilities.

"But nothing has been decided and I will have to talk it over with my family.

"I know they are in a similar position to us, but they have said certain things to me and I will have to have some time to think it over."

Izzet then revealed that he may move to secure his place in Turkey's World Cup squad.

"I still have a chance to be in the World Cup squad but it's difficult," he said.

"This is not about money - it is about my desire to be as successful a footballer as possible.

"Although it hurts me to say it, I think that is best served with a new challenge away from Leicester City.

"I want to test myself against the best, I want to give myself the best opportunity of winning trophies and I want to play in Europe."
