Goal-shy Delvecchio linked to Chelsea
The Italian international drew another blank as Roma narrowly defeated Perugia 1-0, but is not scared that his low scoring rate, having netted just once this term, will scupper his chances of going to the World Cup in the summer.
"I think it is a case of not getting the recognition from the fans for all the hard work that I do when I am on the pitch," said Delvecchio.
"If I was scoring goals then I would be getting so much more credit.
"Obviously I would like to be scoring, and if this happens then I will be happy, but playing well is more important to me."
The experienced striker, who came within a minute of scoring the winning goal of Euro 2000, before a late rally from the French side, has been linked with a move to Chelsea.
Italian manager Claudio Ranieri is well aware of Delvecchio's ability, but seems unlikely to invest the rumoured £14 million asking price in the 28-year-old.
