l`OM transfer deals called into question
According to the French sport newspaper L'Equipe, the return of Bernard Tapie as Marseille president, after being disgraced in a bribery scandal surrounding the club's European Cup success in the early 1990s, has seen much action on the transfer front.
The report looked into the dealings of player agents Gilbert Sau and Jean-Luc Baresi.
One transfer that is facing an investigation involves Argentine Eduardo Tuzzio, who last season played with San Lorenzo.
Tuzzio was allowed to go on a free transfer to Swiss side Servette last summer, but three days later was sold to Marseille for over £3.9 million.
The report claims a court in Marseille is set to investigate the transfer and the relationship between Tapie and Servette chairman Michel Coences, who is a close friend of the Velodrome president.
L'Equipe also questioned Marseille's deal to acquire former Paris Saint Germain striker Pascal Nouma, after he dropped his agent Chantal Stanley on transfer deadline day for Sau, then moved straight away to Marseille for around £336,000.
PSG's Jerome Leroy seemed to find success in moving to the capital with Baresi, after struggling with Marseille.
Leroy's former agent, Jean-Pierre Astier, failed to quickly find him a new club after falling out of favour at the Stade Velodrome.
Under Baresi, Leroy seemed to have no problems in getting a quick move to the Parc des Princes.
The Leroy transfer was considered a surprise, as PSG owner Robert Louis-Dreyfus refused deals for Laurent Charvet, among others.
Marseille still have a large squad of 38 players on their books and are facing more financial problems come the end of the season.
