Morfeo set for Juve
Amidst news that Fiorentina are again fighting to avoid being put in the care of an administrator following the death of Valeria Cecchi Gori, it appears Morfeo will almost certainly play in a Juve shirt next season.
This will come as a disappointment to West Ham United manager Glenn Roeder, who had been linked with the player earlier in the season and may have harboured plans to snap up the forward on a free transfer in the summer.
Fiorentina are currently looking set for the ignominy of relegation to Serie B following a dismal season both on and off the pitch.
The constant threat of bankruptcy has provided the backdrop to a season beset with crippling injury - particularly the ligament damage that robbed the Viola of star man Enrico Chiesa for the campaign, and terrible form.
With only Venezia below them in the table, Fiorentina will be devastated to lose another influential player for nothing, although Morfeo will face a battle at Juve to wrest the fantasista role from current incumbent Alessandro Del Piero.
The task would be made somewhat easier should Del Piero grow tired of the mounting criticism from the fans who once idolised him and move on.
Juve do not want to sell the player, but the Italian media has suggested that Arsenal, Manchester United and Barcelona are ready to step in with a big bid.
