Diouf happy with underdog tag

SENEGAL and Lens target-man El Hadji Diouf is happy that his country will go into the World Cup finals in the Far East as rank outsiders and believes it could work to their advantage.

Group opponents France, Denmark and Uruguay are expected to ensure a rapid exit for the African Cup of Nations runners-up and Diouf is happy the Africans can go out and play their fooball with nothing to fear.

"For a lot of people, we are the weak team. But I like that," said Diouf.

"It's better for us to be the outsiders because we have nothing to lose."

An opening fixture against holders France, the first game in the 2002 World Cup, represents the ultimate test for Diouf and company who will be hoping to catch the champions cold and pull off a shock result.
