Niemi happy at Hearts

ANTTI NIEMI feels a new deal could be in place with Hearts by the end of the month.

The Finnish goalkeeper has attracted interest from Charlton, but he seems confident about extending his stay at Tynecastle.

He said: "The only concrete offer for me was from Charlton so it has been really easy for me to concentrate on playing for Hearts.

"I still have one-and-a-half years of my contract to run and my agent is going to have a meeting with Chris Robinson later this month. Hopefully we will sort something out then.

"When you get older there are a lot of things you have to think about. My family is here, they like it here and I am more than happy."

The keeper is a key figure in manager Craig Levein`s plans, and he will be buoyed by the news that Niemi wants to stay in Edinburgh.
