Ostenstad considering return home
It would seem that the 30-year-old wants to move before the transfer deadline, having made a U-turn on his earlier desire to stay at Rovers to take advantage of the monetary rewards of his current contract.
Ostenstad rejected a move to Walsall earlier in the season but now told VG: "The problem is that it's terribly difficult to get away from a club like Blackburn when you start to get like an old man and only have a couple of years left on your contract.
"I try to keep all my possibilities open, including Norway and the Tippeliga, but I don't bother to discuss anything until it becomes concrete so that it means that I can get away from here."
In 1996 he left Viking Stavanger and signed for Southampton, three years later he moved to Blackburn.
"Everything was going well when I arrived here, but a lot of strange things happend here. There was three managers in five months.
"Joe Royle was interested in a permanent deal (when he went on loan to Manchester City) and we should talk through the summer. But then he was fired the day after the last league game."
Lillestrom could be interested in a loan deal, with their striker Magnus Powell out injured until the summer.
"Egils Ostenstad was at least a good player, although we have not considered him until now. But that has given me an idea," said Lillestrom boss Arne Erlandsen.
Viking could also be interested in an emotional return with director Bjarne Berntsen saying: "With the economical bit it would have been impossible earlier to get him on the personal terms and since he has two years left on his contract.
"Egil has still got a lot to give and has a strong position in the Viking enviroment. But we aren't on an intensive striker hunt at the moment."
