All change at Sparta

SPARTA ROTTERDAM coach Frank Rijkaard has announced that six members of his squad will be allowed to leave on free transfers in the summer.

Despite the club still hovering above the relegation places in De Eredivisie, Rijkaard (pictured) appears to be making plans for next term.

Last week he signed promising youngster Rick van den Bergh, and has now relegated Tom Sier, Dave van der Meer, Richard Elzinga, Anders Nielsen, Houssin Bezzai and Murat Mazlum to the reserves.

The six players will all be out of contract in the summer and Rijkaard has no intention of offering any of them new deals.

Rijkaard stressed that the decision was nothing to do with a lack of commitment, rather saying it was purely a measure to cut costs and free spaces in the squad at Het Kasteel.
