Mbo wants Belgium return
The 25-year-old striker has been in resurgent form since making the decision to return home, after falling out-of-favour with the Istanbul giants earlier this season.
Mpenza scored at the weekend for his club and is hoping that his new vein of good form will allow Belgium boss Robert Waseige to pick him for next Wednesday's World Cup warm-up friendly in Greece.
He has 21 caps for his country but has yet to score at international level since last playing for Belgium in 2000.
Mpenza told the Belgian daily Het Nieuwsblad: "I came back (to Belgium) to invest in myself.
"I chose for a gradual recovery. Now I'm ready again and, sure, I would like to go the World Cup."
Mbo's brother Emile will not be available for next Wednesday's friendly, with the Schalke 04 striker out with an injured left thigh.
