Satin dampens Lazio talk
The deal seems far from done as the player's agent Bruno Satin has exclusively told planetfootball that reports of an imminent transfer to Lazio were wide of the mark.
The Italian media and now a Lazio spokesperson have claimed that after preliminary talks, a deal has been agreed in principle between the two clubs.
"Lazio have reached an agreement with Leeds regarding Olivier Dacourt," said spokesperson Laura Zaccheo.
"Lazio still have to meet with the player's agent to reach an agreement, this meeting will take place in the next week."
Despite Lazio's claims, Satin has told planetfootball.com that Dacourt is not even thinking about a switch to Serie A.
"This is simply not true, it is true that there is interest from a couple of Italian clubs, but it is no more than that," Satin told planetfootball.com.
"Olivier is very happy with Leeds and obviously is concentrating on trying to get them into the Champions League.
"He is not looking anywhere at the moment, obviously Leeds might want to sell him, but it does not mean Olivier will go.
"He will decide what he wants to do.
"Olivier sees England as the place to be, Italy is behind The Premiership and he may not want to leave England."
Dacourt is being tipped as one of the Leeds squad who will be sold to balance the Elland Road accounts.
Juventus have always being suggested as favourites to sign him if he did leave West Yorkshire, but in the last few weeks Lazio have emerged as leading candidates.
Leeds have denied a deal has been done with Lazio, but confirmed what Satin revealed to planetfootball - that there was interest from a number of Italian clubs.
"We've had offers for Olivier Dacourt from several Italian clubs," said chairman Peter Ridsdale.
