Costacurta goes under knife - Maldini boost

AC MILAN defender Alessandro Costacurta has undergone an operation on his injured knee.

The verteran defender has visited a specialist surgeon in Belgium to undergo the operation and he is expected to be out of action for ten weeks ruling him out for the rest of the season.

The 35-year-old twisted his knee in a clash with Piacenza's Dario Hubner last weekend.

"He will be able to start playing football again in 10 weeks, barring complications," read a statement on the club's official website.

One piece of good news on the injury news is the return of captain Paolo Maldini to training.

The Italian international has been missing last December after picking up a knee injury against Atalanta.

Maldini's return will be major boost to The Rossoneri and the Italian national team ahead of this summer's World Cup.

Meanwhile, Adriano Galliani is set to be made president of the club once Silvo Berlusconi steps down.

Berlusconi will no longer be allowed to hold a position at the club he made great due to a conflict of interest law.

Galliani, who is currently vice-president at Milan is set to get the nod to take control of the club.
