Durnin looking for permanent deal
The veteren midfielder is hoping the club will extend his current weekly contract into a permanent deal.
The ex-Liverpool striker kick-started his career in 1989 when Brian Horton signed him for £225,000 at Oxford United.
Durnin scored 47 times during his four-and-a-half years at the club before moving to Portsmouth for £200,000 where he spent six-and-a-half years.
Since then he has had brief spells at Blackpool, Carlisle and Kidderminster, until Horton offered him a non-contract deal enticing him away from Rhyll in December, where he was working as a coach.
During his time at Port Vale he has helped the team climb out of the relegation zone, giving one of his best performances of the season yesterday.
"We will see what will happen, but it would be nice to still be here," Durnin admitted, when asked about his future.
"I will sit down and have a talk with the manager. They are a good set of lads here and I would like to think I can do something".
Horton is hoping that Durnin, who is currently playing in midfield, can add some much needed experience to a young side with an average age of just 22.
Port Vale are currently lying in 13th position with 57 points and three games remaining.
The Potteries side face Bournemouth at home on Saturday, Huddersfield away on the 13th and end the season on the 20th at home to Brighton & Hove Albion.
