Okocha: I am not to blame
PSG had claimed that Okocha was not forthcoming in negotiating a new contract, before his current deal expired in the summer.
"I don't like to talk about that in the press. But I don't appreciate the officials said that they made all the efforts and not me," said Okocha.
"It is not true, it is even the contrary. I can understand it is difficult for the club to give a big contract to a 28-year-old player, because there will be not prospect of selling him.
"I can also understand they want to reduce my wages, but there is a limit, I have a family to feed."
Okocha admits that he has not always been at his best for PSG, but that is because he has been played out of position.
"You have to know that I have rarely played in my true position, as playmaker, since I arrived in Paris: once on the right, once on the left, even defensive midfielder. That is my main problem! It is true that I haven't scored enough or created enough, but anyway, I know I have worked well for the team.
"In fact, above all I have had a lot of fun during my second season here, and even at the start of the present one. At those moments, I was at my true level. But then, I had a lot of trips with my national selection, so my form with PSG was not so good."
"I won't make four fantastic seasons here, it is obvious, but really, there was too much changing here, and me, I like continuity.
"It is thanks to the fans that I stayed in Paris until now. When it doesn't work, I always felt they were behind me. I will have a good memory of Paris.
"You know my family is really happy here. It is something essential, more important that football."
The 28-year-old will hold talks with PSG again next week, but it seems increasingly likely that the African star will be leaving Le Championnat.
