Alfi helps out Bryne

MANCHESTER CITY defender Alf Inge Haaland has handed his former club, Bryne an undisclosed amount of money.

The money will help his home-town club reach their goal, with 15 million kroner in share capital, and avoid an economical crisis.

The Norwegian international hopes the thousands of Kroner he has donated will help his old club to survive.

Ole Terje Strom joked: "I'm an optimist. Now we have got a penalty in extra time.

"I think that we will reach the goal. A meeting with the investors has certainly indicated this. It is now the investors` responsibility to pay the rest.

"It's nice that Alfi supports his mother club. He came to us with a six figure amount."

Haaland was signed by Nottingham Forest in 1994 from Bryne for £250,000. He then moved to Leeds in 1997 before being signed by Manchester City in 2000 for £2.5 million.
