Carew looking for new club
The Norwegian striker, who saw a move to Fulham collapse this season, has not been a regular under Rafael Benitez and is unhappy at La Mestalla.
"He has experienced frustration," confirmed Flod. "I would call it very grave.
"I have taken some phone calls lately and I'm less inclined to reject interesting clubs.
"John wants a good wage in a good club on a high level," he told VG.
"One step to the side is okay, but not a step down.
"We are very selective.
"We don't care for a club in the lower parts of The Premiership."
The 22-year-old has admirers in England as his physique is well suited to the demands of the Premiership game.
However, if Carew is too selective about his next destination, he may struggle to find a suitable club.
Sunderland boss Peter Reid has expressed an interest in the former Rosenborg attacker, but it remains to be seen if Wearside is an attractive option for the player and his representative.
Aston Villa, who may lose Juan Pablo Angel, coincidentally to Valencia, could be a suitable club for Carew.
