Feyenoord ready to sell Emerton
The Australian international has been linked with a move to The Premiership for some time and it looks like he could leave De Kuip at the end of the season.
The midfield star's father, Mick, admitted that Feyenoord would be willing to sell the player, but that he did not expect anything to happen until the end of the current campaign.
"Feyenoord are definitely willing to sell Brett, but he will not be going anywhere this season," Emerton senior told the Sydney Morning Herald.
"For starters, they've still a big chance to win the championship and they're still in the Uefa Cup, so the fans wouldn't take kindly to them releasing Brett at this stage."
Leeds have been long-term admirers of Emerton and would like to bring him to Elland Road to join up with compatriots Harry Kewell and Mark Viduka.
With Olivier Dacourt set to leave The Whites in the summer, Leeds boss David O'Leary will be in the market for a new midfielder and he could move for Emerton.
Just last week Liverpool boss Gerard Houllier made a personal scouting mission to watch Emerton in their Uefa Cup draw with Internazionale.
Emerton, who is predominantly a right-sided winger, has been playing as a defender on the same flank recently and his versatility would provide an option for Houllier.
Houllier is expected to strengthen the squad for next season, and Feyenoord could be tempted to part with the 23-year-old for a bid in the region of £10 million.
