Haaland reveals injury torment

ALF INGE HAALAND has expressed has his delight at Manchester City's promotion to The Premiership but admits he is frustrated at not playing a major role.

The Norwegian international has been sidelined with a knee problem all season and has had three operations to cure the complaint while The Citizens have marched to the First Division title.

"The promotion celebration went on with split emotions. I have made a minimal contribution," added a disappointed Haaland.

"This is my most frustrating season ever, very hard. Before I have never been out for more than two or three weeks."

However, 'Alfie' insists the upbeat atmosphere helped lift his mood, stating: "Support and sympathy has not been missing and it is a pleasure to have smiling faces around you all the time.

"If we had failed to win promotion this season it would have been even harder to sit in the stands."
