Lemerre praise for Anelka
Liverpool's striker, on loan from Paris Saint Germain, has been in the international wilderness since November but has begun to return to form with Gerard Houllier's side, and won a recall to the national side for Wednesday's clash with Russia.
Despite Anelka drawing a blank in the 0-0 Stade de France draw, his all-round performance, including a disallowed goal, seems to have impressed Lemerre.
"He brought his contribution to the team, although I would have liked his goal to be accepted," said Lemerre.
"My advice to him is to keep working with his club until the official publication date of the final squad."
With Sylvain Wiltord struggling with a thigh injury, Anelka could force his way back into the reckoning for the World Cup if he keeps up his performances for Liverpool.
Wiltord's injury is another blow to Lemerre and Arsenal, following Robert Pires's injury and Gunners midfielder Patrick Vieira has joined the calls saying that there are too many games.
"We all play in great European clubs and it is becoming more difficult to finish the games," said Vieira.
