Roberto Carlos price too high

DESPITE renewed speculation linking Real Madrid star Roberto Carlos with a return to Internazionale, Nerazzurri president Massimo Moratti appears reluctant to pay the asking price.

The Brazilian full back spent just one season at Giuseppe Meazza before moving to the Spanish capital in 1996.

Rumours have persisted that Roberto Carlos would be tempted back to Inter in the summer.

However, Moratti has baulked at the proposed transfer fee of £25 million, particularly after Inter only received £4.5 million when they sold him to Real.

Tentative contact between the two European giants is believed to have commenced, although unless the price is dropped Moratti seems unwilling to pursue the deal further.

One alternative avenue to explore, according to reports in Italy, is for Roberto Carlos's compatriot Ronaldo to be included in a swap deal, although whether Inter would be prepared to sacrifice the striker is questionable.
