Fergie tells Yorke to leave

MANCHESTER UNITED chief Sir Alex Ferguson has told Dwight Yorke that he must leave Old Trafford.

The Trinidad and Tobago star has been on the fringes of the United squad for most of the season after falling out-of-favour and his Red Devils career is now all but over.

Yorke rejected a move to Middlesbrough in January, whilst United added Uruguayan ace Diego Forlan.

Forlan's arrival meant that Yorke was not even considered for the substitutes bench and now Ferguson has told the former Aston Villa man to move.

"Dwight has got to move on," said Ferguson.

"He's got to get a career elsewhere - that is obvious.

"He's done a great job for us and he will do a great job for somewhere else."

Blackburn Rovers have been strongly linked with Yorke and are rumoured to be preparing a bid in the hope of pairing him with his former United strike-partner Andy Cole - who moved to Ewood Park earlier this season.
