Newton makes Posh switch

PETERBOROUGH UNITED have swooped to sign England Under-21 international Adam Newton.

The 21-year-old midfielder has rejected the offer of a new one-year deal at West Ham and has instead signed a three-year contract with The Posh.

"I needed an opportunity to get some first team football under my belt and I am fortunate that Peterborough United have offered me the chance," Newton told Peterborough's official website.

"I like to take on players and I have got good pace, but I am not scared of doing my share of the defending.

"I have been out on-loan at several clubs and I know what the Nationwide League is like. I can't wait for the start of the season and I will be concentrating on doing well for the club, the rest of the players and the supporters."
