The Magpies are releatively short of creative midfielders and Amor could very well be seen as an ideal signing to bolster the North East club's ranks.

Amor left Barcelona in 1998 after 12 years with the Catalan club, to join Italian side Fiorentina. His move to Florence proved to be an error and after just 24 games in two years he moved to Villarreal in 2000.

Meanwhile, Newcastle have allowed their young Portuguese midfielder Pedro Dimas to undergo a trial with Montpellier.
