Imps make double swoop

LINCOLN have made their first signings of the close-season snapping up Ben Futcher from Doncaster and Dean Cropper from Sheffield Wednesday.

Central defender Futcher and striker Cropper have signed one-year deals at Sincil Bank.

New Imps boss Keith Alexander believes that the new additions will add options to his squad.

"Ben is big lad who is very comfortable on the ball and defends very well," Alexander told the club's official website.

"He's a player I've seen quite a few times play for Oldham reserves last season and he's got some idea of what it's about at this level after being with Doncaster and Stalybridge.

"I think he'll be a good addition to the squad. Hopefully he'll get into the team and become a regular.

"Dean asked to be released from Sheffield Wednesday as he wasn't getting many games for their reserves.

"Darlington were after him this season so we've had to nip in early and I think he's going to be one for the future."
