Makelele welcomes English interest

REAL MADRID midfielder Claude Makelele says that he is to hold talks with the club at the end of the season, and reveals that a move to England does interest him.

The Cameroon international has been in good form this season for Madrid but constant rumours of Patrick Vieira's arrival in Santiago Bernabeu have led to Makelele being linked with a move away.

Makelele now says that although he is happy in Spain, he is aware of interest in him, especially from England, and he would be very interested in a switch to The Premiership.

"I have a release clause (about ‚é¼25 million), and there are several English clubs that are keen to sign me, and who are ready to pay the price," he told France Football.

"With my agent, we will talk again with the Real officials, and see what they propose. I always maintain that Premier League football could suit me."

Italian side Internazionale are also said to be interested in Makelele, although the defensive midfielder is quick to insist that he is happy for now.

"I feel very well in Spain," he insisted.

"A lot of people have told me that I am intransferable, as four or five of my team-mates have said, it is nice of people to say."
