Ljungberg said: "I don't want to comment the incident itself, but it's things that happen in practice.
"When the practice is over, it's gone. You avoid each other for a couple of minutes and then discuss it."
The Gunners midfielder revealed he felt he had been roughly challenged by Mellberg on a couple of occasions during training.
Ljungberg added: "It had happened a couple of times and I felt it was time to make a stance, but we shook hands thirty seconds later and joked about it on the bus home."
Mellberg also expressed his praise of Ljungberg, as the Aston Villa man explained he regretted the challenge to Swedish daily Expressen at a news conference.
Mellberg said: "Fredrik is a great lad. I might have had my toughest battles with the ones I like most.
"I regret it (the tackle), the incident doesn't give a good image of our preparations. I was too hot and it went wrong.
"That was not good, you should be able to control yourself during a World Cup camp."
Meanwhile, Swedish bosses Lars Lagerback and Tommy Soderberg are expected to field a starting line up for their final warm-up against co-hosts Japan in Tokyo to be similar to the starting eleven that will start against England on June 2.
The Swedish side looking line up against Philipe Troussier's Japanese squad will likely include Magnus Hedman, Olof Mellberg, Patrik Andersson, Johan Mjallby, Teddy Lucic, Magnus Svensson, Tobias Linderoth, Anders Svensson, Fredrik Ljungberg, Markus Allback, and Henrik Larsson.
