Confirmed: Keane to make announcement

EXCLUSIVE
RTE have confirmed to planetfootball.com that they are shifting their entire Monday night schedule to show a Roy Keane interview - in which it is believed the midfielder will apologise to Republic of Ireland manager Mick McCarthy.

Publicist for the show Caroline Fisher confirmed that RTE were running the exclusive interview in full, which suggests that the player will not merely be reiterating his past aggressive stance.

There are suggestions that the player could even ask to be reinstated to the team during the spot with Tommy Gorman.

"Unfortunately content wise I haven't got anything, I have just come down from the newsroom and the interview is taking place as I speak," confirmed Fisher.

"So there isn't anything hard and fast about the content but we may soon have an indication of which way its going.

"But that RTE are cutting an entire programme at 8:30 to show the entire interview suggests that this is going to be major news.

"This is only speculation at this time, but I would say half an hour of programme would not be pulled for anything less than major news."

RTE spokesperson Majella O'Doherty confirmed that the Irish TV station was sweeping their evening schedule for the interview.

"The full interview will be aired tonight at 8:30 on RTE1," O'Doherty confirmed to planetfootball.

"There is also a scheduled highlights programme."

Keane was told to leave the Irish camp after criticising manager McCarthy, after an argument about unprofessional treatment of the players blew up.

Both McCarthy and Keane have previously insisted that there is no chance of reconciliation - leaving Ireland without perhaps their most famous player.
