Inter Coco rumours hold some truth

INTERNAZIONALE president Massimo Moratti has indicated that rumours of a swap deal which would see Milan owned Francesco Coco swapped with Clarence Seedorf may have some truth in them.

The Italian international, the only Azzurri World Cup player who plies his trade outside of Serie A, is on loan at Barcelona - with the Spanish club holding an option to buy him for £10 million.

However speculation has been circling that Coco will not be snapped up and his return to Milan will see him immediately offloaded to Inter, as part-payment for Seedorf.

"We have a meeting with the Rossoneri directors," said Moratti.

"We are all considering this possibility. We'll wait and see if it will be a straight swap or not.

"Coco is the closest option at the moment, as he is Italian and therefore we already know his characteristics.

"But, as I said, no deal has been struck yet."

Adriano Galliani, the Milan supremo, also insisted that no deal had been discussed - and that Barca still had first option on the player.

"We have yet to reach agreement with Inter or either players over the move," said Galliani.

"Another thing I want to underline is that Coco still belongs to Barcelona. They have up until July 31 to decide what to do with him.

"If they don't want him then Coco will belong to Milan."

The player himself seems somewhat bemused by the speculation, and wants to remain in La Liga.

"I still feel like a Barcelona player and I don't know anything about the stories that Barca want to release me," Coco insisted.

"In the last month and a half, I have spoken to Barca officials on at least 20 occasions and they've always said they want to keep hold of me."
