Sheridan to appeal against seven game ban

OLDHAM ATHLETIC midfielder Darren Sheridan is to appeal against an FA disciplinary ruling that has resulted in him being suspended for the opening seven games of next season.

Sheridan was charged with misconduct by The FA after being sent off four times last season, the highest red card tally in the country.

The FA treated the matter with the utmost seriousness because of the 34-year-old's record, which included dismissals in successive matches back in January.

He was fined £2,000 and suspended for a further three games which, added to a four match ban carried over from last season, means Sheridan will be sidelined for the opening seven fixtures of the new campaign.

The Latics veteran, though, is appealing against the decision and is expected to have his case heard within the next fortnight.
