Matias wants Lazio move

ARGENTINE midfielder Matias Almeyda has revealed that he would like to make a return to Lazio.

The 28-year-old spent three seasons at Stadio Olimpico from 1997 to 2000 making over 50 appearances for the club.

Roberto Mancini, the new coach of the Roman giants, is reportedly keen to re-sign the Argentine for the club and could land the star for around £1.5 million.

Turkish side Fenerbahce are rumoured to have already made a bid for the Buenos Aires-born player, however it is thought the Parma man would prefer to remain in Italy.

Lazio are reportedly favourites to sign Almeyda, as they are understood to be ready to offer Dino Baggio or Fabio Liverani in exchange.
