Veendam loan for van Eijk
HEERENVEEN will allow Marc van Eijk to gain experience away from the Abe Lenstra, with the player signing a loan deal with Veendam.
The 20-year-old Surinam-born striker is highly-rated by Heerenveen boss Foppe de Haan, and the coach feels he will benefit from regular football in the Gouden Gids Divisie.
Van Eijk has a contract with Heerenveen until 2005, and is viewed by many as the successor to Anthony Lurling, who quit the club for Feyenoord earlier in the month.
Although yet to secure regular football with Heerenveen, van Eijk is not short of admirers with Cambuur Leeuwarden, RBC Roosendaal and Ipswich Town all having checked on the player.
