Cottagers in rumour frenzy

OUSMANE DABO is the latest in a long line of players being linked with a move to ambitious Fulham.

Jean Tigana and Franco Baresi have seemingly drawn up a sizeable list of targets, with Antonio Benarrivo confirming his likely arrival in West London, and the anticipated capture of more Italians in the wake of Baresi's appointment as director of football.

Frenchman Dabo is well known to Tigana, and his career followed a similar path to that of Manchester United's Mikael Silvestre before he ended up at Atalanta when quitting Internazionale.

The midfielder is keen to play more regular first team football, and the prospect of becoming part of what is rapidly becoming an attractive project at Fulham could be too tempting to resist.

Antonio Asta, the Torino captain, is another option for a role in the side next season, as he could tie up a three-year contract with The Cottagers if terms can be agreed this week.

The Italian is on a Bosman free transfer, as is another target Alessandro Costacurta, while fresh Italian reports claim Alessandro Calori is another new face being considered by the Londoners.

The 35-year-old Brescia veteran is also out of contract, and is a cheaper alternative, in salary terms, to former international stopper Costacurta.

When the dust settles, it seems certain Fulham will have made many new additions to their squad before the 2002/2003 campaign gets underway in August.
