Lawnmower Man out to grass
TOUGH-TACKLING midfielder Stig Tofting is one of four Denmark players to call time on their international careers, following their World Cup exit at the hands of England.
Tofting has retired from the international scene, along with team-mates Peter Kjaer, Brian Steen Nielsen and Jan Heintze.
Nicknamed 'The Lawnmower Man', Tofting will now concentrate on his club career with Bolton, after playing in all four of Denmark's matches in the Far East.
However, he was unable to prevent the Danes from crashing to a 3-0 defeat to England in the second round.
Veteran defender Heintze has also hung up his boots after a prolonged international career.
Heintze was the oldest player in the finals and started Denmark's opening two matches.
Nielsen was handed a substitute appearance in the final group game against France while Aberdeen goalkeeper Kjaer was only ever likely to be employed in an emergency.
