Flynn completes Wigan move

MIKE FLYNN has completed his transfer to Wigan Athletic as Paul Jewell continues his pre-season preparations.

The 21-year-old has agreed a two-year deal with The Latics, whilst the cost is nominal to the Division Two side.

Flynn will join from Barry Town having enjoyed a phonemenal spell, scoring almost 40 times in a season and a half.

Speaking to the Wigan official site, Flynn said: "Just walking out and looking around the ground it's like a dream come true for me.  To be fair I was just about to sign a new contract with Barry because, although there had been interest there was nothing concrete to look at.

"Then after the semi pro tournament, my agent got in contact with me about Wigan's interest and things have moved on from there.

"I can play in a few positions but I see myself as a midfielder who can get forward and score some goals - well that's what I was doing at Barry - I hope I haven't just jinxed myself!

"I'm not the type of person who'll just come here and be happy picking up my wages - I want to be in the first team being successful with Wigan and that's what I think we'll be this year.

"I can only learn from the better players here and hopefully I can teach them a thing or two as well. Paul Jewell's got a lot of experience so I'm looking to learn from him too.

"People have told me that Wigan have underachieved over the past few years and you only have to look around the place to see that that's true.  You look around and this place is definitely made for Division One, if not The Premiership in a couple of years time."
