Tofting arrested after brawl

DENMARK midfielder Stig Tofting has been taken into police custody after allegedly assaulting two people in Copenhagen.

The Bolton Wanderers man allegedly caused a cut on the eye of one customer at a cafe in the city before attacking another person outside.

Police were called to the scene and Tofting was then taken into custody and spent Sunday night behind bars as police investigated the incident.

The fiery midfielder is no stranger to the rough stuff on and off the pitch and was charged with hitting a man in 1999 when he received a 20-day conditional discharge.

The 32-year-old retired from international football after Denmark's World Cup exit at the hands of England in Japan and Korea.

The former AGF star had a difficult World Cup after stories of his troubled childhood were published in the Danish media but is due to return to Bolton for the start of the new season.
