Chievo deny English Perrotta interest
CHIEVO have played down reports that Simone Perrotta is a target of Fulham and Chelsea, pointing the finger squarely at the player's agent Gianni Bozzo as the source of the stories.
Perrotta was believed to be close to signing for Internazionale but the alleged interest from the London duo has seemingly put a block on this.
With Roma and Parma believed to have been in the early running for Perrotta, it would seem any team trying to buy the midfielder will have considerable competition.
Speaking exclusively to planetfootball.com, Mario Gibellini, the Chievo press officer said: "I have read this story in the newspapers this morning.
"The link between Perrotta and the two English clubs has been revealed by Perrotta's agent Gianni Bozzo, but Chievo have never talked about this affair.
"We prefer to talk after a player has signed a new deal, not before. These past weeks the newspapers are full of these stories, but we cannot follow every rumour.
"Our sporting director Giovanni Sartori does not like to talk about transfer market rumours, it's not serious."
When asked whether he believed Perrotta was close to signing for Inter, Gibellini said: "I don't think so.
"A number of our players are being chased by top clubs, but we sell them only if we receive a good offer.
"Of course Perrotta could stay with Chievo.
"Some weeks ago our midfielder Eriberto was thought to be leaving the club for sure, but he is still here.
"We don't sell anyone without a good offer. I can say the same for Christian Manfredini, he has been eyed by many clubs, but we are still waiting for a good offer."
