Sereni set for Brescia move

IPSWICH TOWN goalkeeper Matteo Sereni is set for a return to Italy with Brescia.

The Italian shot-stopper has never hidden his desire at returning home and Brescia are keen to sign him.

Town boss George Burley admitted that the club were in talks with an unnamed Italian club about a loan deal with a view to a permanent deal for Sereni.

"We are talking to a club in Serie A about a transfer," said Burley.

"It will probably be a loan deal, with a view to a permanent move, but talks are on-going and we'll know more in the next couple of days."

Brescia are on the look-out for a new goalkeeper with current number one Luca Castellazzi set to leave for Sunderland and Sereni fits the bill.

Sereni, who is Ipswich's record signing, has previously admitted that he would be keen on a move to Brescia and it seems that Town are willing to let him go to reduce their overheads.

Better news on the transfer front for Town is that they are set to land Sixto Peralta on another year's loan from Internazionale.

The Argentine playmaker impressed last season at Portman Road and expressed an interest at staying at the club.

Town chairman David Sheepshanks is discussing the possibility of extending his loan with an option of a permanent deal should they win promotion back to The Premiership.

"We are very interested in keeping Sixto Peralta and there is the possibility of us being able to extend his loan period for a further year," said Sheepshanks.
